Teri began her legal career as an appellate law clerk at the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland for the Honorable Raymond G. Thieme, Jr., and as Special Staff Attorney for the Honorable Joseph F. Murphy, Jr. Afterward, she entered private practice, concentrating on estate planning, business law and transactions, and civil and appellate litigation. Teri sharpened her litigation skills at the National Trial Advocacy College at the University of Virginia and continued to advise her business clients, many of them in the construction industry, on best practices. She later joined a larger Annapolis law and government-relations firm and began practicing in the areas of procurement, government contracts, and large-scale complex civil litigation.
Teri is a 2013 graduate of the Leadership Anne Arundel Executive Leadership Series. Her experience and training equip her to consider all aspects of the business environment for optimum competitiveness and protection. More recently, Teri earned her IAPP certification as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States, to showcase her existing experience and growing passion for cyber, information and data protection privacy and counseling to business clients.
Teri also provides complex estate planning and asset protection planning. Her strategic guidance and practical solutions serve clients’ estate and trust needs in both Maryland and Florida. She is uniquely experienced in helping her Maryland clients prepare for retirement in Florida and continues to serve their estate planning needs even after they move.
In 2009, Teri became the fourteenth attorney in Maryland to receive a LEED AP credential by the U. S. Green Building Council. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is a nationally recognized rating and certification system for the design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings. This designation affirms Teri’s respect for and advanced knowledge in green building and her expertise in the LEED certification process for green building practices. She is uniquely equipped to advise clients in the construction and alternative energy industries on the many incentive-based and regulatory requirements for green building as well as green building trends.
Teri holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Juris doctor degree and Maritime Law Certificate from Tulane University School of Law. She is barred in the State of Maryland, the State of Florida, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
